Public Participation
We are a youth-led organization committed to advancing youth justice through active public participation and policy advocacy, focusing on issues that disproportionately impact young people. Our policy work ensures that individuals can meet their basic needs and uphold their human rights.

Past work
In 2019, SBX, in collaboration with the ACLU, challenged the Youth Accountability Team (YAT) program in Riverside County. This program disproportionately targeted youth of color, leading to unnecessary criminalization. SBX's advocacy resulted in a settlement that reformed the YAT program, addressing systemic issues in the juvenile justice system. This effort underscores SBX's commitment to protecting youth rights and combating the school-to-prison pipeline
SBX engages in year-round educational campaigns locally and statewide to inform and empower communities on key issues. Using diverse outreach strategies like texting, phone banking, email marketing, digital ads, canvassing, and community meetings, we ensure continuous engagement.

A key focus is centering youth in these efforts, as we believe civic engagement is crucial to youth development. By involving young people, we raise awareness, foster understanding, and empower the next generation to drive positive change in their communities.
